Freeport, Bahamas

The 2nd Annual Grand Bahama Homecoming is scheduled for June 2nd-5th, 2017 in Freeport, Grand Bahama. It is our sincere hope that our event would promote togetherness and will bring Bahamians back home while fostering a great alliance with corporate Bahamas and government sectors as we intend to create an atmosphere to promote the same.

Grand Bahama Homecoming creates a weekend fitting for Bahamians of all ages. Last year was an unforgettable experience and we wish to continue on that path. We had a weekend of entertainment which featured Bahamian artists, Stileet, Geno D and Ronnie Butler; international artists Christopher Martin and Nesbeth, local hosts, radio personalities and deejays. The events included fifteen vendors that served traditional Bahamian dishes and had cultural displays. The children’s corner was comprised of children toys, bouncing castles, and face paintings. The highlight of the evenings was the Junkanoo rush out that had everyone dancing to the beat of the goatskin drums.

This year’s international artist is Beres Hammond. He has a huge international fan base worldwide; therefore Beres will assist us greatly in reaching our goal to attract the local and international tourists. Beres, along with our various cultural activities, gives us a great product to promote internationally which also will boost the local economy and provide a number of temporary jobs. During the weekend there will be family oriented events with kid-friendly activities such as bouncing castles, slides and more. We truly believe that the foundation laid last year will contribute to another successful weekend. We are keeping the momentum of our Bahamian culture at the forefront featuring events that will capture the hearts of the individuals in our community.

The preparations for this year are ongoing; we are kicking off the homecoming weekend with our first event on Friday June 2nd at Pirates Cove, Taino Beach. This event will feature Bahamian Icon D-Mac, along with Grand Bahama’s 2017 New Year’s Junkanoo winners, Platinum Knights. International reggae super star artist Beres Hammond is the headlining performer for Saturday June 3rd at Goombay Park, International Bazaar. Sunday June 4th all roads will lead to the ultimate Bahamian Beach Party on Taino Beach.

In addition to bringing Bahamians home, our second goal is to raise funds during the Grand Bahama Homecoming weekend for the Phluid Phoundation Scholarship Fund. Our aim is to support the youth of Grand Bahama and their future.

Our intent is to provide an enjoyable holiday weekend and promote Grand Bahama. We understand the positive effect events of this magnitude can have on the economy. As a result, businesses such as clothing stores, beauty salons, airlines, hotels, car rentals, gas stations restaurants and more will benefit from the hosting of this event.
